1. Who we are
Custom 3D Print (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website at www.custom3dprint.co.uk and provides custom 3D printing services. We are based in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, United Kingdom. You can contact us at info@custom3dprint.co.uk.
2. What personal data we collect
We collect the following personal data when you submit a contact form or quote request:
- Full name
- Email address
- Phone number (if provided)
- Company name (if provided)
- Delivery postcode or address (for quote requests)
- Any information you include in your message or request
- 3D model files you choose to upload
We also collect standard server log data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and performance monitoring purposes. This is not linked to personal identity except where required for security investigation.
3. Why we collect your data (legal basis)
We process your personal data for the following purposes and on the following legal bases under UK GDPR:
- To respond to your enquiry or quote request — legal basis: legitimate interests and contract performance
- To process and fulfil any order or agreement — legal basis: contract performance
- To comply with legal obligations (e.g. financial record-keeping) — legal basis: legal obligation
- To improve the website using Google Analytics 4, which is only loaded if you accept it on the cookie banner — legal basis: consent, which you may withdraw at any time
We do not use your data for automated profiling or marketing without your explicit consent. We do not send marketing emails unless you have specifically requested them.
4. How we store and protect your data
Quote requests are stored in private server storage outside the public website and are also transmitted to us by email. A file uploaded with a quote request is retained privately while the quote or order is active so we can assess and produce the requested part. Source files are automatically removed 90 days after an order is completed or cancelled, and are removed immediately if the order record is permanently deleted. The request record may be retained under the periods below. We take reasonable technical precautions to protect data in transit (HTTPS) and at rest.
We do not use third-party CRM systems or marketing platforms to store your personal data. We do not share your data with any third parties except where required by law.
5. How long we retain your data
We retain your personal data for as long as is necessary to manage your enquiry or order, and for up to 3 years thereafter for legitimate business record-keeping. Financial records may be retained for up to 7 years in line with HMRC requirements. You may request deletion at any time (subject to legal retention obligations) by emailing info@custom3dprint.co.uk.
6. Customer reviews
We invite customers to leave a review after an order is completed. Reviews can only be submitted using a personal, single-use link that we email; the link expires after 90 days.
When you submit a review we store the rating, the review text, the display name you choose, and — if you provide them — your town or city, a description of the part, and a photograph. You choose what appears publicly, and the consent checkbox on the form states exactly what will be published. Your email address is never published.
We also retain, privately and never displayed, the email address the invitation was sent to and a one-way hash of the IP address used to submit. These exist so that we can substantiate a review if its authenticity is ever questioned, and so that we can locate your review if you ask us to remove it.
Any photograph you upload is re-encoded on our server before it is stored. This removes all embedded metadata, including any location coordinates that your camera or phone may have recorded. The original file is not retained.
Published reviews are retained indefinitely, because they form a public record that other customers rely on. You may withdraw a review at any time by emailing info@custom3dprint.co.uk; we will delete the review, the photograph, and the associated private records.
We moderate reviews for abuse, spam, and third-party personal data only. We do not filter reviews by rating, and we do not offer any incentive in exchange for a review.
7. Cookies
We use cookies as described in our Cookie Policy. Essential session cookies are used for form security (CSRF protection). Analytics cookies are optional and only set with your consent.
8. Your rights under UK GDPR
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal obligations)
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Request restriction of processing
- Data portability (where applicable)
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk
To exercise any of these rights, email info@custom3dprint.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Third-party services
Our website may use Google Fonts (served via Google APIs) for typography. Please refer to Google’s privacy policy for their data practices. We do not currently use Google Analytics or other third-party tracking services without your cookie consent. Our hosting provider processes server logs as part of standard shared hosting operations.
10. Children
Our services are not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.
