About us

An independent UK specialist focused on solving practical problems

Custom 3D Print is a UK-based custom printing service run by someone who prints parts for real-world applications — not mass production, not flashy showcases, just useful things that either don’t exist off the shelf or can no longer be found.

What we are and what we are not

We are a small, independent UK-based operation. One printer — a Bambu Lab P1S — running FDM (fused deposition modelling) printing in PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS, and ASA. We handle one-off parts, short runs, replacements, prototypes, and practical custom prints.

We are not a print farm. We are not an industrial manufacturer. We do not do resin printing, metal printing, CNC machining, or injection moulding. What we do, we do well — and we are straightforward about the limits of FDM technology.

If your job is within scope, we will quote it clearly and turn it around efficiently. If it is not, we will tell you honestly rather than take your money and disappoint you.

Solving the problem of the unavailable part

The discontinued part problem

A huge number of plastic parts — on vehicles, appliances, electronics, and machinery — go out of production long before the product itself becomes unusable. The appliance works fine. The part that holds the door closed does not. Replacement? Discontinued five years ago. That is the problem we exist to help with.

The custom part problem

Sometimes you need something that simply does not exist. A bracket for a specific combination of components. A spacer that is 4 mm thicker than any standard item. A mount for a camera position that no manufacturer has considered. These are the kinds of practical problems where a custom print makes complete sense.

The slow sourcing problem

Overseas sourcing takes weeks. Specialist suppliers want minimum orders. Local engineering shops are either too expensive or not interested in a single plastic part. We fill that gap — fast quoting, honest pricing, and sensible lead times for the kind of work that doesn’t fit anywhere else.

How we work

Quote requests come in by email via our online form. We review every request individually. If your file is ready to print, we can often quote the same day. If you need CAD work or the geometry is complex, we will let you know what is and is not feasible before you commit.

We use a Bambu Lab P1S printer, which is a high-performance enclosed FDM printer capable of printing the common engineering thermoplastics reliably and accurately. It is well suited to the kind of practical, functional work we focus on.

Parts are checked before packing and dispatched via Royal Mail or courier. We communicate directly — there is no queue of support staff or automated ticket system. You get answers from the person who will print your part.

What we commit to

Honesty about what FDM printing can and cannot do

We will tell you if a material is not suitable, if a print is unlikely to meet your expectations, or if a part is outside our CAD scope. We would rather decline a job than take money for something unlikely to satisfy.

Clear, itemised quoting

No surprises. Your quote shows material, quantity, print cost, any CAD work, and delivery separately. You know exactly what you are paying for and why.

Realistic lead times

We do not over-promise turnaround times. If a job is urgent and feasible within your deadline, we will confirm that clearly. If it is not, we will tell you.

Direct communication

You deal with the person printing your parts. Replies to questions are written by someone who understands the job, not generated by a system.

No minimum orders

One part is fine. Ten parts is fine. We do not impose minimums because the economics of 3D printing do not require them.

The P1S is an enclosed, high-speed FDM printer from Bambu Lab. Its enclosed chamber makes it well suited to engineering materials like ABS and ASA that require a controlled thermal environment during printing. It offers consistent results across a wide range of filament types and is well suited to the functional, practical printing we specialise in.
